Hot Yoga is Coming To The Yoga Studios

We are really excited to be announcing Hot Yoga at The Yoga Studios. We are currently having heating equipment installed and will be offering various styles of Hot Yoga classes including Bikram very soon.

What Is Hot Yoga?

You may hear people using terms like “hot yoga” and “Bikram yoga” interchangeably, but they’re not exactly the same thing.

Bikram yoga, was originally developed by a yogi named Bikram Choudhury. It’s done in a room heated to 105°F (41°C) with 40 percent humidity. The Bikram style consists of 26 different poses and two breathing exercises that are done in the same order in each class. A standard Bikram yoga session would typically last around 90 mins.

Hot yoga, on the other hand, really just means that the room is heated above normal room temperature. The heat can vary depending on whatever the yoga instructor wants, though it’s typically between 80 and 100°F (27 and 38°C).

Hot yoga sessions can include a variety of different poses, and the time of each class will vary from studio to studio. And unlike Bikram yoga, which is a quieter, serious practice, hot yoga often includes music and more interaction among the people in the class.

Bikram yoga has lost followers and has not been so popular in recent years due to assault allegations against its founder. Some Yoga studios may use the term “hot yoga” rather than “Bikram yoga” to describe their heated classes. We recommend reading the class descriptions of classes before hand to see what the classes involve.
